 Disaster Recovery

All kinds of disasters can strike your business at any time. Disasters like lightening storms, fire and explosions, flooding, power outages, power surges, brown outs, and tornadoes are especially dangerous to your computer network. Disasters like these are unavoidable and the best that you can do is to be prepared to recover as quickly as possible after the event.

And that’s where EXPERT I.T. GUYS can help.

EXPERT I.T. GUYS works with you and your team to help ensure you are adequately and cost effectively protected from the most common or most frequently occuring types of disasters and can recover from a disaster as quickly as possible.

There is a vast array of disaster recovery solutions out there however, that doesn’t mean every solution fits every business. EXPERT I.T. GUYS consults with you and your team to determine the best overall solutions for your company based upon your company’s needs,  requirements, and economic restraints.

There are 3, very basic solutions that we believe every company should employ for a minimum level of protection because they are extremely effective and relatively inexpensive. Once the 3 basic solutions are put in place, we can then determine if any further levels of protection are required.

The 3 basic solutions are:

  1. Tape Backup System. An automated backup system that uses tapes or external hard disk drives. The backups should be done daily and the latest full backup should always be taken off-site. In addition, the backups should be tested at least every 6 months to ensure the backed up data is recoverable. You don’t want to find out after a disaster strikes that the backups contained unrecoverable data!
  2. RAID configuration for servers. The RAID configuration helps to protect your data from a hard disk drive failure. It also help to keep your business up and running, albeit a little slower, when a disk drive fails. Without a RAID configuration in your server, the server goes down when a hard drive fails. And so does your business.
  3. UPS systems. Also known as Uninterruptible Power Supplies. When the power goes out in your building or in the area of town your business is located in, UPS’s keep your servers up and running until the power is restored. In the event the power is out for an extended period of time, the newer UPS’s can properly shut down your servers before their batteries are completely discharged, thereby protecting your servers from additional electrical damage.

Depending upon your business requirements, additional levels of protection might be necessary. That will be determined during our consultation with you and your team.

When can we get together with you to discuss your disaster recovery plans and procedures?
